October 2022 SIA Staffing Report

Staffing Industry Analysts released its October staffing report last week, giving a number of insights and looks into the staffing industry. This month’s report has a focus on the mental health and the challenges workers face as well as providing leadership updates to major companies within the healthcare sector.

SIA reports that the US Department of Labor is expected to fund up to $80 million for nurse training programs this year. The DOL expects that over a quarter of a million more nurses will be needed in the next 10 years which is faster than all other occupations in that timeframe.

Cross Country Healthcare Inc had two important updates this month as well. They recently acquired 2 locum tenens providers: Mint Medical Physician Staffing LP and Lotus Medical Staffing LLC.

A top executive also departed Cross Country: Buffy Stultz their group president of workforce solutions. Stultz left after two years in the position after having been featured on SIA’s 2020 Global Power 150 list.

In addition, legislature in Michigan has been introduced recently to ensure their employers cannot be prohibited from being hired full time by healthcare facilities.
